Step Forward” presents the repeating cycle which, actually, never repeat the same thing at all.

Keeping a close watch in my daily life is repeating again and again, leaving my place to the studio in the morning and back again in the evening is the routine happened everyday. Making steps by trampling left after right foot time and time is the action of repeating as well as the origin and destination, my place and studio, I traveled between these two point, it make me feel like I’m walking around and around.

But even though the action and the route are repeated, the perceptions are always changing. The shops, the buildings, the alley, the street, the people passing by are different faces, and even sometimes I have a chance to see someone I’ve ever met before but never-nothing the same, both me and him/her, space and time.

Our life are structured by the repetition. We have to breath inhale-exhale, step left-right foot, sleep-awake, eat-defecate, die-born. They are cycles structured by repetition in different frequency levels. It is the same pattern in everyone’s life. But what makes the circle of life different in each other? What that moves the cycle if life forward? It is to fill details into the structure. What we choose to see along the way, to give value and impress are the content we select our life to contain. Along that everlasting repetition, there always be things ready for us to learn, understand and appreciate.

After I printed out the pictures, I line them up on the walls around the exhibition room.
The end and the start joint a cirle, the same as my walk.
